Too many women's ministries neglect this to their peril. If church leadership takes some ownership, they are more likely to promote your women's ministry - and maybe financially support it. 2. Form a prayer team. We are in a spiritual battle for the souls of women, and with a prayer team, you can win. 3. Form a women's ministry planning committee. Every one of the women on this committee should be committed to praying for each other, the women's ministry leadership, and the women you will reach. They need to be willing to make a time commitment, too. 4. Check your church's master calendar for already planned events. This is a MUST-DO to prevent scheduling conflicts. 5. Conduct a survey. Get clipboards, questions, and a bevy of friendly, smiling ladies to ask the women in your church about their women's ministry needs. (See Start a Women's Ministry From the Ground Up by Betty Voshage for complete details and sample surveys.) 6. Plan your program based on demographics and stated needs. Are the women in your church mostly young moms with babies? Or are they aged 50+? Do you have lots of single moms? Are your women expressing a need for a scripture-based weight loss program? A successful program will meet stated and unstated needs. 7. Find a good Bible teacher. God has anointed certain women with a gift for teaching. Ask Him to send you one then keep her covered in prayer. 8. Publish your event calendar. Keep it in front of your women at all times. 9. Plan for fun as well as Bible study. Make sure the ladies laugh - often. It is good medicine for the soul and will encourage them to come back and bring friends. 10. Plan a special event. There is nothing like the planning and executing of a holiday to keep the ladies excited. (See Karen Porter's Secrets to Planning A Successful Big Event for ideas and execution.)
