Saga of Romance

"I’m tired of him," she told
her friend
as she sat in her chair.
"I’d like to make him pay
for never showing that he cares.
What can I do to break his heart?
When he’s so cold to me?
I’d leave him now if only
it would pain him to be free."
"If you would like to make him pay,"
her friend said with a grin.
"Then listen close, I know a way
that breaks the hearts of men.
Before you take him into court
to break your marriage vows.
You must pretend that you love him,
And let me tell you how."
"Go home and hold your husband close
and tell him that he’s dear.
Let him fall in love with you.
Erase his every fear.
Then when his heart belongs to you
This is how you’ll win,
March him in before the judge
So fast his head will spin."
"Demand divorce and break his heart
so he at last may know,
The hurt he caused you through the years
Will be a stinging blow."
She did as planned with these results
Which may seem very strange.
She played at love and came to find
An unexpected change.
It worked so well she had to tell
Her friend which she did call.
"I never knew he is the best
Husband after all.
When he fell for me, I fell for him
And now you’ll never guess,
When we renew our wedding vows
I’ll wear my wedding dress."
"I’m packing for a special trip,
our second honeymoon.
So thank you for your great advice
That changed my heart and tune."
The lesson here is plain to me
and I am glad to tell,
That if you want a loving spouse
You must be one as well.
